Sabrina Logan, M.D., Director, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
“As director of the area's only PICU, it is very rewarding to provide quality pediatric intensive care close to local families.”
As a pediatric intensivist, Sabrina Logan, M.D., is driven by a desire to care for critically ill and injured children. As director of the area's only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Logan helps provide a unique local resource.
The PICU is a collaboration with The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Since opening in 2000, it has given area families and physicians a convenient option, rather than sending children and families to Philadelphia or Hershey.
"We have many subspecialties, such as pulmonology, hematology and oncology, and when we need additional resources, our collaboration with CHOP provides for quick consultation or easy transfer," Logan says. "This collaboration also provides us with continuous quality improvement through weekly teleconferences."
Referring physicians can count on easy access, she says, whether it's to transfer a patient or for consultation. "There's one central phone number, and we have the expertise and resources to make a difference in the lives of children. Our families are happy with the quality of care and the family-centered environment we provide."
